Hello La Palma,

My name is April Kamilah Bautista and I am a candidate to be your next Council Member for the City of La Palma. I’m a local girl raised in La Palma for 33 years. I graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with a degree in Political Science and received an organizational leadership certificate from the Hogan Program at Chaminade University of Honolulu.

I have over 10 years of experience working in government, nonprofit organizations, and customer service. I enjoy being outdoors, reading biographies and non-fiction books, longboarding, and watching my nieces and nephews grow up. I have a passion for helping people live the best life they can through compassionate policy and acts of kindness.

Upon returning to La Palma last year to care for my parents, I remember how much I enjoyed growing up here and grateful that they chose this City to raise my sister and me. A lot has changed in a year and the fallout of Covid-19 on the City will be significant.

I pledge to you that I will do everything I can to help La Palma through this time. With your support, I hope to accomplish the following:

  1. Encourage economic development by supporting revenue increasing projects while maintaining tight control over our expenditures;
  2. Support our local schools, educators, and the La Palma Police Department;
  3. Promote environmental sustainability; and
  4. Increase voter turnout.
I know La Palma will successfully meet the difficult challenges ahead and continue to be the City of Vision.

Stay hydrated & Wash your hands, please 🙂

Very best,

April Kamilah Bautista

I Support the La Palma Police Department

I’ve witnessed first-hand how they speak compassionately, they patrol the neighborhoods, and are friendly. They maintain the sense of security and peace of which is the top reason why families move to the City.

Empowering Our Community

I encourage more people to participate in council meetings to voice their concerns and listen to the opinions of others.

I am in continued support of the “Shop Local” campaign.

Economic Development

I will support small businesses and explore responsible economic development for the city of La Palma.

Let’s come together for La Palma and move forward to make our city, the City of Vision.

I am April Kamilah Bautista and I humbly ask for your support to represent you as Council Member for the City of La Palma. #akb4theCity
